  • Basic understanding of environmental systems, disaster risk, or sustainability concepts (preferred).
  • Foundational skills in data analysis, geography, or statistics (advantageous but not mandatory).
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP) describing academic and career interests.
  • Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  • English language proficiency (IELTS, TOEFL, or equivalent), where applicable.
  • Course Description

The Master of Science (MS) in Climate Change and Disaster Management is an interdisciplinary graduate program designed to prepare students to understand, analyze, and manage the growing risks associated with climate change and natural disasters.

The program integrates climate science, environmental studies, disaster risk reduction (DRR), emergency management, and geospatial technologies to develop professionals capable of designing resilient systems and effective response strategies.

Students learn how climate change influences the frequency and intensity of disasters such as floods, heatwaves, earthquakes, droughts, storms, and sea-level rise. The program also emphasizes disaster preparedness, mitigation planning, emergency response, and recovery management using modern tools such as GIS, remote sensing, data analytics, and risk modeling.

Aligned with international standards and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the program equips graduates with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to support governments, NGOs, humanitarian organizations, and international agencies in building climate-resilient societies.

    Course Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the MS in Climate Change and Disaster Management, graduates will be able to:

    1. Demonstrate a strong understanding of climate change processes and disaster risk systems.
    2. Analyze the relationship between climate change and the increasing frequency of natural disasters.
    3. Apply disaster risk reduction (DRR) frameworks for planning and mitigation strategies.
    4. Use GIS and remote sensing tools for hazard mapping and risk assessment.
    5. Develop disaster preparedness and emergency response plans for vulnerable communities.
    6. Evaluate the environmental, social, and economic impacts of disasters.
    7. Apply data-driven approaches for disaster forecasting and early warning systems.
    8. Design climate adaptation strategies to reduce vulnerability and enhance resilience.
    9. Coordinate disaster response and recovery operations using modern management systems.
    10. Assess policies and frameworks related to climate resilience and disaster management.
    11. Communicate risk and emergency information effectively to stakeholders and the public.
    12. Work collaboratively with government, NGOs, and international organizations in disaster response efforts.
    13. Integrate sustainability principles into disaster risk management planning.
    14. Utilize technology and innovation to improve disaster monitoring and response systems.
    15. Conduct independent research in climate change impacts and disaster risk reduction.
